Nottingham Forest received a boost on the fitness front as striker Taiwo Awoniyi rejoined full training this week, putting him in contention for their crucial Premier League clash against Sheffield United on Saturday.
Awoniyi, a 26-year-old Nigerian international, has endured a frustrating season riddled with injuries. He hasn’t featured for the Reds since their 1-0 defeat to Brighton last month, missing the last seven league games.
However, Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo is cautiously optimistic about Awoniyi’s return. “He started training with the group today, and we’ll see how he feels in the coming days,” Santo told reporters. “His experience and goalscoring ability would be a huge asset for us.”
The return of Awoniyi would be a timely boost for Forest, who are embroiled in a relegation battle with just three games remaining in the season.
