DUBAI – Eswatini and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed an investment promotion and protection agreement to strengthen economic ties and encourage investment between the two nations.
The agreement was signed by Eswatini’s Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, and the UAE’s Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini. It follows the Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement concluded in August 2024.
According to a joint statement, the deal aims to create a secure investment environment by establishing legal protections, ensuring fair treatment, and facilitating capital movement. A Joint Committee on Investments will be formed to oversee implementation, resolve challenges, and explore further opportunities for cooperation.
