ABUJA – The Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Hidayet Bayraktar, met with the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, on Monday, February 10, in Abuja as he concluded his diplomatic mission.

During the farewell visit, Bayraktar expressed gratitude for the strong cooperation between Turkey and ECOWAS and commended Dr. Touray for his dedication to strengthening bilateral ties. He also extended an invitation to Touray to attend an upcoming event in Antalya, Turkey.

Discussions covered regional security concerns, including terrorism and instability in West Africa. Bayraktar reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting ECOWAS in addressing these challenges and advancing peace and stability in the region.

Dr. Touray acknowledged Turkey’s role as a key partner in Africa and emphasized the importance of collective efforts to combat insecurity. He reiterated that no ECOWAS member state could tackle the issue alone, stressing the need for regional unity and international collaboration.
