Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama called on African leaders to intensify efforts in combating corruption, which he argued deprives nations of vital resources necessary for development. Speaking at the Presidential Session of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025 in Accra, Mahama stressed that economic growth is unattainable in an environment marred by conflict and insecurity.
He urged leaders to act swiftly to promote peace, asserting that stability is essential for economic progress. “Economic growth cannot thrive in an environment of conflict,” Mahama stated.

The president also encouraged African nations to transform discussions into meaningful actions. He pointed out that the decisions made at the Africa Prosperity Dialogue must not remain as resolutions but should lead to urgent and impactful steps for the continent’s growth.
Mahama called for greater unity among African nations, urging leaders to break down barriers that divide them and work towards a more self-reliant and competitive continent. Quoting Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, he reminded the audience that the forces that unite Africa are stronger than external influences that seek to keep the continent divided.
