Emirates Takes Flight to Madagascar

Emirates launched its first flight to Antananarivo, Madagascar, with a Boeing 777-300ER, marking its fifth Indian Ocean destination. The four-weekly service, linked via Seychelles, was celebrated at Ivato International Airport with a water cannon salute.

Antananarivo, Madagascar – September 4, 2024: Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, made a historic inaugural landing in Antananarivo, Madagascar. The arrival of EK707 was marked by a grand water cannon salute at Ivato International Airport, followed by a celebratory event attended by dignitaries, government officials, industry leaders, and media.

President Andry Rajoelina of Madagascar welcomed the Emirates delegation, led by Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer. The event also saw the presence of prominent figures from the UAE, including Mohammad Lootah, President of Dubai Chambers, and His Excellency Jamal Al Hai, Deputy CEO of Dubai Airports.

The inaugural flight was commanded by Captain Bruce Pope and Captain Solo Chuk, a Malagasy pilot with 14 years of experience at Emirates. The flight, operating with a near-full passenger load from Mahe, Seychelles, showcased the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft featuring First, Business, and Economy Class cabins.

President Rajoelina expressed his enthusiasm for the new route, highlighting its potential to boost tourism and economic development in Madagascar. Adnan Kazim emphasized Emirates’ commitment to supporting Madagascar’s tourism growth and providing premium travel options to international visitors.

EK707 operates four times a week, departing Dubai for the Seychelles and then continuing to Antananarivo. The return flight departs Antananarivo for Mahe and then Dubai. Emirates offers a range of inflight services, including gourmet meals, award-winning entertainment, and comfortable seating.

Madagascar, known for its unique biodiversity and stunning landscapes, is a popular destination for adventure travelers and nature enthusiasts. Emirates’ new service provides convenient and luxurious travel options to this enchanting island nation.
