Windhoek, Namibia – Vice President Dr. Netumbo Ndaitwah of Namibia addressed the Global African Hydrogen Summit, welcoming delegates from around the world and highlighting the country’s commitment to green hydrogen and industrialization.
Namibia, chosen to host the summit, offers a unique environment and abundant resources for the development of green hydrogen industries. The country has made significant strides in its efforts to industrialize sustainably and protect the environment, aligning with its Vision 2030 and National Development Plans.
Green hydrogen, produced using renewable energy, presents a promising solution for combating climate change and diversifying economies. Namibia, with its rich deposits of minerals, renewable energy resources, and well-developed infrastructure, is well-positioned to become a leader in this sector.
Vice President Ndaitwah emphasized the potential of green hydrogen industries to create jobs, diversify economic output, and augment electricity and clean water production. She also highlighted the importance of balancing economic development with ecological preservation.
The summit brought together experts from around the world to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with green hydrogen. Namibia’s neighbors, such as Egypt, Mauritania, and Kenya, have also made progress in this area, demonstrating the growing interest and potential for green hydrogen development in Africa.
