Juba, South Sudan – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA&IC) has successfully graduated a new cohort of diplomats and interns after a comprehensive competency-based training program.
The graduation ceremony was presided over by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Ramadan Mohammed Abdallah Goc, who emphasized the importance of training diplomats locally to ensure effective foreign policy implementation and service delivery to citizens.
Minister Goc underscored the effectiveness of training South Sudanese diplomats within the country, stating that it helps them understand the core values of diplomacy in the context of South Sudan and equips them with the knowledge necessary to foster patriotism and love for their homeland.
Hon. Ambassador John Samuel Bwogo, Undersecretary of the MFA&IC, cautioned the newly trained diplomats to adhere to public service rules and regulations, emphasizing that a good diplomat is one who respects the laws of the land.
The Institute of Diplomatic Studies, with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), successfully trained 123 diplomats and interns during the program, which ran from May 27 to August 30, 2024.
