Gaborone, Botswana โ Air Botswana is set to launch direct flights between Botswana and Namibia next month, marking a significant milestone in regional air connectivity. The airline announced on Tuesday that it will commence operations to both Namibia and South Africa, offering increased travel options for passengers.
Starting October 1, Air Botswana will operate three flights per week between Gaboroneโs Sir Seretse Khama International Airport and Windhoekโs Hosea Kutako International Airport. This route will also extend to Durban, South Africa. In addition, from November 1, the airline will introduce flights between Maun and Kasane in Botswana and Windhoek, both operating three times a week.
These new routes are expected to significantly enhance travel between the two countries, fostering business and tourism growth. The Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park, two of Southern Africaโs premier tourist destinations, will become more accessible to visitors from Namibia.
Air Botswana CEO Lulu Rasebotsa expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, highlighting its positive impact on economic activities in Botswana and the region. She emphasized the airlineโs commitment to increasing its footprint in Southern Africa and providing more travel options for customers.
Namibia Airports Company (NAC) CEO Bisey /Uirab welcomed the new routes, emphasizing their role in strengthening bilateral relations between Namibia and Botswana. He expressed confidence that the increased air connectivity will boost people-to-people and business-to-business interactions.
Air Connect Namibia, a partnership led by NAC, is a key player in facilitating this new air link. The company believes that the new flights will contribute to the growth of both countriesโ economies.
