The presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has pledged to put an end to the sharing of government funds if elected president in the upcoming February 25th election.
Speaking at a Leadership Town Hall in Abuja on Friday, Obi stated that he plans to transform Nigeria into a productive nation where jobs will be created for the labor market.
He described Nigeria as a failed state, due to the insecurity and poverty that is currently rampant, and attributed the challenges facing the country to leadership failure over the years.
The former Anambra State governor noted that the election must not be based on ethnicity or religion or by ‘my turn’ syndrome.
“It is nobody’s turn. I’m an Igbo but I’m more proud being a Nigerian. I’m contesting because I’m the most qualified to solve this country’s problem.
“We want to build a better future for you. It is not about us. They talk about structure but they don’t have a structure, it is a structure of stealing,” he added.
Obi also emphasized that a new Nigeria is possible, and that his administration will turn things around quickly.
He said that his administration will first ensure safety and unity among the people, and will shift the focus of the country from consumption to production by tackling the country’s production based on its endowments.
He also stated that fuel subsidies will be removed and the sharing of money will stop under his administration.
