President Muhammadu Buhari said he joined the Nigerian Army to escape pressure to get married.
He revealed this in his hometown of Daura while visiting the Emir of Daura.
He said that he secured his first job after school to manage a co-operative in Daura, but had to join the army when his family pressured him into marriage.
He also mentioned his experiences during the Nigerian Civil War and attributed his survival to the grace of God.
He also stated that being the President of a diverse country like Nigeria must be by the grace of God, and he plans to return and settle in Daura after his term ends in May 2023.
