Dubai, UAE – Dubai Airports proudly celebrates the one-year anniversary of its groundbreaking “We All Meet the World Differently” program, a testament to its unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive travel experience for People of Determination (POD). This two-year initiative, spearheaded in collaboration with various stakeholders, has championed a range of initiatives to transform Dubai International (DXB) into an exemplary hub of accessibility and inclusivity.

In line with Dubai’s vision to become the world’s leading disability-friendly city, the program prioritizes community engagement, ensuring seamless travel for all POD passengers, including those with hidden disabilities. “As we commemorate the success of our comprehensive program, we are deeply touched by the transformative impact it has had on our guests,” remarked Majed Al Joker, COO of Dubai Airports. “Dubai Airports remains steadfast in its pursuit of creating an environment where every individual, regardless of their abilities, feels empowered and welcomed.”

The program encompasses a suite of tailored services, including the Sunflower Lanyard Programme, which discreetly identifies and assists POD guests, granting access to priority lanes and an autism-friendly route that prioritizes check-in, passport control, security checkpoints, and boarding. Complementing this initiative, the launch of a travel planner provides a step-by-step visual guide for passengers with hidden disabilities to navigate the airport seamlessly.

Furthermore, a bespoke hidden disability service training and awareness program was meticulously crafted and launched, reaching over 33,000 airport staff across DXB service providers to enhance their knowledge and understanding of visible and non-visible disabilities. Additionally, complimentary two-hour parking, specialized assistance at customs and immigration, dedicated taxis, and wheelchair services represent significant milestones in DXB’s unwavering commitment to making tourism accessible for all.

Recognizing the unique requirements of POD travelers, DXB has customized its airport amenities to provide an enhanced travel experience. To introduce these new services and familiarize guests and their families with the airport environment, the operator has synchronized multiple “Travel Safari” tours in collaboration with specialized centers. Offering a hands-on walkthrough, these tours guide participants through essential airport procedures, from check-in to boarding, enabling them to experience the airport environment before their travel date.
