Seoul, 13th June, 2023 – President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea warmly welcomed H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his visit to Seoul. The meeting, attended by Park Jin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
President Yoon conveyed his greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and extended his best wishes to the UAE and its people for continued progress and development. The discussions aimed to explore avenues for further collaboration, supporting the overall development and sustainable economic prosperity of both nations.
Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the significance of President Yoon’s visit to the UAE in January, underscoring the robust strategic ties between the UAE and Korea. He expressed the leadership’s commitment to enhancing and expanding this partnership.
The Minister emphasized the pride the UAE holds for its exceptional relationship with the Republic of Korea, which has spanned over 40 years and witnessed remarkable achievements. The prosperity and development of both nations and their people are testament to the strength of this enduring friendship.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed hope for Korea’s participation in COP28, to be held in Dubai at Expo City this year, and commended Korea’s support for the UAE’s hosting of this significant global event. He reaffirmed the UAE’s support for Korea’s hosting of COP33 in 2028, emphasizing the unique model of cooperation in climate and clean energy shared by both countries, driven by a comprehensive energy strategic partnership.
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Saeed Al Hajri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs; Omran Sharaf, Assistant Minister for Advanced Sciences and Technology Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Maha Barakat, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Health; and Abdullah Saif Ali Al Nuaimi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Korea.
