H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a productive meeting with Yoshimasa Hayashi, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, during his official visit to Tokyo. The purpose of the meeting was to explore avenues for further cooperation between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Japan across multiple sectors, including the economy, trade, industry, and investment. This collaboration aims to strengthen the strategic partnership that exists between the two nations.
The discussions between Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Minister Hayashi reaffirmed the strong and enduring ties of cooperation and partnership between the UAE and Japan. Both leaders expressed their commitment to enhancing these relations and building upon the solid foundation that has been established over the years.
One of the key topics on the agenda was climate change, with a specific focus on the UAE’s preparations to host the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) this year in Dubai Expo City. The UAE, as a responsible global citizen, is actively engaged in addressing climate change issues and is poised to play a pivotal role in fostering international cooperation on this pressing matter.

In addition to climate change, the ministers delved into various areas of mutual concern and interest. They discussed the collaborative efforts between the two countries within the framework of international organizations and exchanged views on regional and global developments. This dialogue reflects the shared commitment of the UAE and Japan to addressing common challenges and finding solutions through cooperation.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the deep and robust relations that exist between the UAE and Japan. He underscored the unwavering commitment of the leadership and governments of both nations to continually strengthen these ties. The signing of the UAE-Japan strategic partnership agreement in September 2022 serves as a testament to the shared aspirations of the UAE and Japan to establish a distinctive model of development cooperation across multiple sectors.
The meeting was attended by esteemed dignitaries including Saeed Mubarak Al Hajri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Commercial Affairs; Omran Sharaf, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Advanced Science and Technology; Maha Barakat, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Health; and Shehab Ahmed Al Fahim, the UAE Ambassador to Japan.
