Kenya and the United Nations (UN) showcased their collaborative efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during a recent meeting. The UN Resident Coordinator, accompanied by leadership from the UN Cooperation Framework, presented the UN Kenya 2023 Annual Results Report and the UN Sustainable Development Framework 2022-2026 to Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

The reports highlighted the UN’s achievements in Kenya alongside a roadmap aligning their work with Kenya’s Big Four Agenda Plus (BETA) priorities. These priorities focus on food security, manufacturing, affordable housing, and universal healthcare.

Mudavadi praised the partnership, acknowledging its contribution to Kenya’s growth. Key achievements include a decrease in under-five mortality rates, educational reforms, and infrastructural development. Additionally, agencies like UNICEF and UNFPA have expanded their presence in Kenya, bolstering their global workforce and networks within the country.

Through the UN Sustainable Development Framework, both Kenya and the UN remain committed to tackling poverty, inequality, and climate change. Their collaborative efforts aim to build a more resilient, robust, and vibrant Kenyan economy, ultimately achieving the SDGs and ensuring “no one is left behind.”
