Russian border guards are implementing heightened security measures, necessitating checks on foreign citizens crossing the Russian-Kazakh border, according to Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
Zakharova highlighted the security concerns following the recent terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall on March 22, underscoring the need for verification measures at checkpoints regardless of the nationality of individuals.
“The situation on the land sections of the Russian-Kazakh border, where the passage of foreign citizens is carried out, is due to increased security measures,” Zakharova stated.
She emphasized that Russian border guards are maintaining direct communication with foreign partners, especially those with whom Russia has a visa-free regime, to address emerging challenges collaboratively in the realms of security and counter-terrorism.
