Johannesburg, South Africa – South Africa and China marked a milestone in their relationship as they celebrated 25 years of diplomatic relations with a grand ceremony in Johannesburg. Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Naledi Pandor, led the South African delegation, which included former President Kgalema Motlanthe and other government officials.
The event began with a vibrant photo exhibition showcasing the history and achievements of the South Africa-China partnership. Guests were then treated to cultural performances and a joint rendition of both nations’ national anthems. This set the stage for a video presentation highlighting the remarkable progress and mutual benefits achieved during the past 25 years.
Minister Pandor and Chinese Ambassador Chen Xiaodong delivered the keynote addresses, expressing their deep appreciation for the strong bonds forged between the two countries. Their speeches emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in various areas, including trade, investment, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange.
