Nigeria appoints new Honorary Consul of the Union of the Comoros

The Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Geoffrey Onyeama received the Letter of Commission of Mr. Donald Roy Joseph Abed, Honorary Consul of the Union of the Comoros today, 28th April, 2023.

Abuja, Nigeria – The Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Geoffrey Onyeama, received the Letter of Commission of Mr. Donald Roy Joseph Abed, the new Honorary Consul of the Union of the Comoros, in a ceremony held today, 28th April, 2023.

During the ceremony, which was attended by officials from the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Union of the Comoros, H.E. Geoffrey Onyeama congratulated Mr. Abed on his appointment and expressed his confidence that he would play a valuable role in promoting bilateral relations between Nigeria and the Union of the Comoros.

In response, Mr. Abed expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he had received and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries.

The Honorary Consul will be based in Lagos and will be responsible for promoting economic, cultural, and political relations between Nigeria and the Union of the Comoros.

The Union of the Comoros is a small island nation located in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of East Africa. It is a member of the African Union and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The appointment of Mr. Abed as Honorary Consul of the Union of the Comoros is seen as a positive development in the relationship between Nigeria and the Union of the Comoros, and is expected to lead to increased cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
