Abuja, Nigeria – The Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Geoffrey Onyeama, recently held a meeting with H.E. Mohammed S.O. Salek, Minister Adviser to the President on Diplomatic Affairs and Special Envoy of H.E. President Brahim Ghali of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.
The meeting, which took place on the 28th of April, 2023, was held at the invitation of the Nigerian Minister, and was aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, H.E. Geoffrey Onyeama reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to promoting peace, stability, and development on the African continent. He also commended the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic for its efforts to advance the cause of self-determination and independence.
In response, H.E. Mohammed S.O. Salek expressed his appreciation for Nigeria’s continued support for the Saharawi cause, and called for stronger ties between the two countries.
The two Ministers also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the ongoing conflict in Western Sahara, and ways to promote economic and trade relations between Nigeria and the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Saharawi Embassy in Abuja.
Overall, the meeting was seen as a positive step towards further strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, and promoting peace and stability in the region.
