Nigerian Foreign Minister Receives Jamaican Counterpart on Official Visit

Abuja, Nigeria – The Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Geoffrey Onyeama, welcomed Senator The Hon. Leslie Campbell, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, and his delegation to the Ministry earlier today. The courtesy visit took place on 28th April, 2023, as part of the Jamaican Minister’s three-day official visit to Nigeria.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed issues of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and cooperation between the two countries. They also explored avenues for further strengthening the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Jamaica.

Accompanying the Jamaican Minister of State to the Ministry was H.E. Esmond Reid, Jamaican High Commissioner to Nigeria. The delegation was warmly received by the Nigerian Foreign Minister and his team.

The visit comes at a time when both Nigeria and Jamaica are exploring opportunities to enhance their economic and diplomatic ties. The Jamaican Minister of State expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their stay in Nigeria.

The Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Geoffrey Onyeama, reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with Jamaica and deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The visit by the Jamaican Minister of State is seen as a positive step towards promoting greater collaboration between the two countries and strengthening ties between the peoples of Nigeria and Jamaica.
