Doha – Qatar facilitated a crucial trilateral meeting in Doha on March 18, 2025, with key leaders from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda. His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, hosted President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and President Félix Tshisekedi of the DRC to further discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis in Eastern DRC.
The leaders acknowledged the progress made through the Luanda and Nairobi processes, as well as the joint EAC-SADC summit held in Tanzania in February. They reaffirmed their collective commitment to the ceasefire agreed upon at that summit and expressed their determination to continue dialogue to lay the groundwork for lasting peace.
Both Presidents Kagame and Tshisekedi expressed their gratitude to Qatar for hosting the meeting, which they described as a significant step toward fostering confidence and ensuring a stable future for the DRC and the wider region.
