The United Kingdom has reinforced its commitment to strengthening trade ties with Nigeria while supporting women-led businesses. At the first-ever HerShowCase event, UK Deputy High Commissioner and Chargé d’Affaires Gill Lever recognized the progress made under the SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme, a joint initiative with the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).
The initiative is part of the broader Enhanced Trade & Investment Partnership (ETIP) between both countries, aiming to facilitate business growth and market access. Through the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), tariffs have been removed on nearly 3,000 Nigerian products, including cocoa, tomatoes, textiles, and footwear, allowing women entrepreneurs to compete more effectively on a global scale.
