Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama has engaged in bilateral talks with General Abdourahamane Tchiani, Niger’s Head of State and leader of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland. The discussions centered on security cooperation in the Sahel and broader West Africa, aiming to bolster efforts against terrorism and improve economic relations.
Both leaders explored strategies to facilitate uninterrupted trade between their nations and deepen diplomatic ties. They also deliberated on the need for greater collaboration within the region, including formal recognition of the Alliance of Sahel States by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
