The National School of Government (NSG) in South Africa has formalized a strategic partnership with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) through a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing governance and public sector performance.
Announced on Monday, the agreement paves the way for collaborative efforts in capacity building, research, consultancy, and knowledge sharing. The partnership will allow both institutions to leverage their expertise in training and professional development to equip public servants with essential skills for driving national progress.
Under the terms of the MoU, key areas of cooperation include training programs for public sector professionals, joint research initiatives to support policy development, advisory and consultancy services, networking platforms for knowledge exchange, and structured exchange programs between the two institutions.
Professor Busani Ngcaweni, Principal of the NSG, described the collaboration as a significant step towards strengthening governance and service delivery. He noted that partnerships expand the institution’s training capacity, diversify its offerings, and grant access to global expertise, aligning with its mission to develop a highly skilled and ethical public sector.
The MoU also represents a milestone in the longstanding bilateral relations between South Africa and India. Their diplomatic ties date back to the anti-apartheid struggle when India became one of the first nations to impose sanctions on the apartheid regime and pushed for international action against racial segregation through platforms like the United Nations.
