The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is working to deepen its relationship with Germany, focusing on expanding cooperation through programs by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

On Thursday, February 27, 2025, Ms. Damtien Larbli Tchintchibidja, Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, welcomed a delegation from the German Embassy in Nigeria. The group, led by the Head of Cooperation Development, met with the Commission at its headquarters in Abuja.

During the visit, Ms. Tchintchibidja urged the delegation to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and improve coordination between stakeholders involved in regional development. The meeting was seen as a significant step toward advancing collaboration between the two organizations.
