Zambia is committed to working closely with its diaspora community to drive economic growth through investment. Speaking at the 2025 International Business Exchange (IBEx) Hybrid Conference at Taj Pamodzi in Lusaka, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, stressed the importance of collaboration between the government, local businesses, and Zambians living abroad.
The conference, themed “Redefining Diaspora: Connecting Businesses and Unlocking Zambia’s Economic Potential,” aimed to connect Zambian entrepreneurs with international investors to boost investment and introduce new business ideas.
Hon. Haimbe highlighted that investments from Zambians abroad could have a profound impact, with every $1 million invested potentially creating up to 200 jobs. To encourage further investment, the Minister outlined plans for improved incentives for investors, stronger partnerships with the private sector, and greater access to digital and financial services.
He also commended IBEx for providing a space for businesses to connect and for raising Zambia’s profile as an investment destination.
