As the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Sustainable Energy Week wrapped up, delegates toured sustainable energy facilities in Botswana to gain insight into innovative renewable energy technologies.
The tour included visits to the Solar Thermal Facility by SOLTRAIN at the University of Botswana, a key site for research and development in solar thermal technologies, and the Solar Thermal Testing Facility at the Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI), which tests the performance of solar thermal collectors. The delegation also visited the Commercial & Industrial Facility at the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN), which showcases practical applications of solar energy in industry.

Lindiwe Mbingo, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, led the Eswatini delegation. Their involvement in the technical tours demonstrated the country’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions. The event provided a valuable opportunity to engage with experts and see sustainable energy technologies in action.
