Pretoria, South Africa – Thursday, 20.02.25 – Zambia’s Cabinet Office Principal Gender Officer, Ms. Susan Musonda, is gaining valuable insights from the ongoing Southern African Development Community (SADC) conference on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Sandton, South Africa.
Musonda said Zambia is learning from other countries on how to strengthen the fight against GBV, particularly in the areas of reporting, research, and data use. She noted that the information shared at the conference would help Zambia refine its GBV reporting framework, improving data quality and comparability.
She emphasized the importance of leveraging shared research findings to inform Zambia’s GBV prevention and response strategies, ensuring interventions are well-targeted. Musonda added that increased data utilization would support informed decision-making to promote a safer and more equitable society.
Meanwhile, Zambia Police Victim Support Unit (VSU) Officer, Ms. Lilian Sabulimbe, stressed the importance of collaboration in creating a unified GBV reporting system. She highlighted Zambia’s highly regarded GBV data within the SADC region and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to following the SADC Protocol Reporting system.
