Zambia and Egypt are working to enhance their economic relations following a series of bilateral talks between President Hakainde Hichilema and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The two leaders focused on expanding cooperation in sectors such as infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, and healthcare, with Hichilema noting that Zambia could benefit from Egypt’s experience in these areas. They also discussed increasing trade and investment through joint ventures between businesses from both countries.
Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the discussions, covering a range of fields. Hichilema expressed gratitude to President el-Sisi for the invitation and the opportunity to engage in these talks.
The Zambian leader encouraged Egyptian businesses to invest in Zambia, emphasizing the country’s strategic location in Southern Africa, a young and energetic population, and abundant freshwater resources ideal for food production and industrial development.
Government agencies in both nations have been instructed to speed up the implementation of the MoUs, aiming to create jobs and opportunities for young Zambians.
