The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) is promoting the country as a leading destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) at Meetings Africa 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The event, taking place from February 24 to 26, aims to advance the growth of Africa’s business events industry and support economic development across the continent.
The show opened with BONDay (Business Opportunity Networking Day), featuring educational sessions on current trends and industry challenges. BTO’s Executive Manager of Quality Services, Mr. Justice Ofentse, participated as a panelist, discussing “Building Thriving Communities through Green Events – A Blueprint for Sustainable Business Gatherings.”
Ofentse shared insights on sustainability, quality assurance, and community impact, focusing on Botswana’s approach to integrating environmental responsibility within the MICE sector. He also addressed the role of global certifications such as ISO 20121, Green Key, and EarthCheck in promoting social equity and environmental stewardship.
