Botswana’s Vice President and Minister of Finance, Ndaba Gaolatlhe, met with Jwaneng Mine officials in a session hosted by General Manager Goitseone Gadifele. The meeting in Jwaneng focused on the mining sector’s role in national development.
Gaolatlhe addressed the gathering, calling for inclusivity in shaping the country’s future. He urged professionals in the mining sector to take on leadership roles and drive innovation.
“With great privilege comes great responsibility. Many of you are highly qualified engineers with strong academic backgrounds, and the nation looks to you for leadership and solutions,” he said.
He also noted Jwaneng Mine’s significant economic impact, pointing out that it has the largest procurement budget outside of government. He encouraged the mine’s leadership to set an example in procurement practices and demonstrate what is possible.
