Delta Air Lines announced that 19 of the 21 passengers involved in a crash at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday have been released from local hospitals.
The incident occurred when a CRJ900 aircraft, operated by Delta’s regional subsidiary Endeavor Air, flipped over after landing. Flight DL4819, arriving from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, crashed around 2:13 p.m. local time.
Investigators from Canada’s Transportation Safety Board (TSB) are looking into the cause of the crash, which occurred when the plane, a 16-year-old Bombardier jet, lost at least one of its wings.
At the time of the crash, the weather conditions at the airport included high winds and blowing snow, as Toronto Pearson was still recovering from a recent snowstorm. Flight data indicated gusting crosswinds were present during the aircraft’s landing.
