Addis Ababa – President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia held talks with a delegation from the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the Dangote Group to discuss efforts to boost intra-African trade. The meeting included Afreximbank’s President and Chairman, Professor Benedict Okey Oramah, and Dangote Group Chairman, Aliko Dangote.
Afreximbank plays a key role in financing trade within Africa, supporting the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to expand economic opportunities. The bank’s work focuses on trade finance and strengthening regional economic ties.

Africa records low levels of intra-regional trade compared to other continents, signaling the need for stronger economic integration. The meeting emphasized the importance of initiatives to close this gap and build cross-border trade links.

The Dangote Group, one of Africa’s largest industrial conglomerates, was acknowledged for its contributions to intra-African trade. Its investments in manufacturing and trade continue to connect markets across the continent.Hichilema, Afreximbank, Dangote Discuss Boosting Intra-African Trade
