BUJA – Boko Haram insurgents killed at least 20 fishermen in Gadan Gari, a village in Borno State, during an attack on Wednesday, local sources revealed.
Modu Ari, a member of the civilian joint task force, reported that the militants stormed the community around 11:00 GMT, opening fire on fishermen. Mustapha Kacahallah, a resident, said his child was among the victims, with over 15 people already buried.
The assault is part of the ongoing 16-year conflict in Nigeria’s northeast, where Boko Haram and its offshoot ISWAP have caused widespread devastation, mass displacement, and economic losses.
