Ethio-Japan Trade Symposium Opens in Addis Ababa

The Ethio-Japan Trade and Investment Symposium opened today in Addis Ababa, gathering key stakeholders to strengthen business and investment ties between Ethiopia and Japan.

State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, highlighted the longstanding and strong relationship between the two nations. He called for increased efforts to enhance trade relations by seizing mutual opportunities, particularly in light of Ethiopia’s macroeconomic reforms that create favorable conditions for Japanese investment.

Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, Dr. Kassahun Gofe, emphasized the Ethiopian government’s commitment to collaborating with Japanese investors to make the most of the improved business climate driven by the country’s reforms.

Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Shibata Hironori, described Ethiopia as an attractive investment destination, noting the growing interest from Japanese private companies looking to expand their operations in the country.

Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Japan, Daba Debele, reflected on the productive bilateral relationship built over the years, especially through development cooperation in sectors like agriculture, education, and urban development under JICA and the TICAD framework. He urged Japanese companies to take advantage of the emerging investment opportunities in Ethiopia.
