MASERU, January 16, 2025 – Finland’s Ambassador to Lesotho, Pekka Metso, presented his credentials to King Letsie III at the Royal Palace on Thursday, marking an important step in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
Finland, which first recognized Lesotho in 1966, officially established diplomatic relations with the Kingdom in 1979. Over the years, the two countries have collaborated on various development initiatives.
Finland has notably supported Lesotho through projects such as the installation of lighting systems at Moshoeshoe I International Airport and training programs in forestry management. The country also contributed $100,000 to ensure the participation of disabled persons in Lesotho’s 2002 general elections.
