DURBAN – A man who confessed to killing his ex-girlfriend in a viral social media video was found dead on Wednesday morning, hanging from a tree in Umzinto’s Malangeni area. His death came a day after police discovered the woman’s body on Tuesday evening.

The 25-year-old victim was found lying in the middle of a gravel road with multiple stab wounds and a broken knife beside her. Authorities believe the murder followed a domestic dispute between the woman and her former boyfriend.

The suspect, identified as Sbusiso Lawrence, a primary school teacher, reportedly picked up the woman from her home before the confrontation turned violent. Police found his abandoned vehicle nearby, with blood stains on the front passenger seat, indicating the murder occurred in the car.

A manhunt was launched, and police later discovered Lawrence’s body hanging from a tree, suspected to have died by suicide.

In a disturbing video posted online, Lawrence confessed to the crime, with blood visible on his face and shirt. He explained the breakup, claiming the woman had received money from the Road Accident Fund, which contributed to their separation.
