Abuja, Nigeria – The US Embassy in Nigeria has introduced new changes to its immigration visa process, which will take effect on January 1, 2025. Under the updated procedure, applicants with scheduled interviews will now be required to visit the US Consulate General in Lagos twice during the application process.
The embassy explained on its official X page that applicants will first need to attend an “In-Person Document Review” with consular staff. This review aims to ensure applicants have all necessary documents in place before their visa interviews, preventing delays in the processing of their applications.
The second visit will be the visa interview itself, which will be conducted by a Consular Officer and scheduled by the National Visa Center (NVC). The embassy noted that if applicants fail to complete the document review before the interview, they will be required to reschedule the appointment.
The changes are intended to streamline the visa application process and reduce delays caused by missing or incomplete documentation.
