Ambassador Han Jing Marks 60 Years of China-Zambia Friendship

Lusaka, Zambia – Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, Han Jing, delivered a keynote speech at the 60th anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between China and Zambia, held at the TAZARA Memorial Park on October 29, 2024.

Ambassador Han paid tribute to the pioneers who laid the foundation for the strong bilateral relationship, highlighting the unwavering support China provided to Zambia during its struggle for independence. He emphasized the significance of the TAZARA railway, a symbol of China-Zambia cooperation and a testament to the shared spirit of perseverance and dedication.

The ambassador also discussed the recent elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic and Cooperative Partnership and the ambitious plans for future collaboration, including the revitalization of the TAZARA railway. He expressed optimism about the project’s potential to boost Zambia’s economy and create jobs.

Han urged the younger generation to appreciate the sacrifices made by the heroes of the past and to carry forward the legacy of China-Zambia friendship. He called for the inclusion of TAZARA’s history in Zambian textbooks to ensure that future generations remember the shared struggle for freedom and development.

The ambassador concluded his speech by expressing confidence in the bright future of China-Zambia relations.
