Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Mohamed Omar, met with the Special Envoy of the Federal Republic of Germany to the African Century Region, Hiko Nitschki. The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the discussions, both parties explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, and development. They also discussed Somalia’s upcoming two-year term on the United Nations Security Council, which begins in early 2025.

The meeting further addressed regional and international issues, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to addressing challenges in the region and promoting economic growth. Somalia emphasized its dedication to combating terrorism, particularly from groups like Al-Shabaab and ISIS, and called for intensified diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting peace and security.

The meeting underscores the growing importance of Somalia’s diplomatic relations with key international partners like Germany. Both countries are committed to working together to address shared challenges and promote stability and prosperity in the region.
