Geneva, Switzerland – October 18, 2024 – The Minister of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs, and Police of The Kingdom of Lesotho, Hon. Lephema Lebona, held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Leon Schreiber, Minister of Home Affairs of The Republic of South Africa, on the sidelines of the 75th Session of the High Commissioner’s Programme (ExCom) in Geneva on October 16th, 2024.
The meeting focused on discussing the resolutions made during a previous meeting in Cape Town and exploring ways to address shared concerns related to immigration, border management, and regional cooperation on migration issues. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two countries to enhance security and streamline processes affecting citizens and migrants in both nations.
The South African delegation was led by Mr. Thulani Mavuso, Deputy Director General, while the Lesotho delegation included two officials: the Commissioner for Refugee (acting) and the First Secretary.
