Lesotho Participates in Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly

Geneva, Switzerland – October 15, 2024 – The Kingdom of Lesotho sent a delegation to the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held in Geneva from October 13th to 17th. The Lesotho delegation included the Vice President of the Senate, Hon. Au, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Mosena, two Members of Parliament, a Senator, and two clerks from both houses of Parliament.

The overarching theme of this year’s IPU Assembly was “Harnessing Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) for a More Peaceful and Sustainable Future.”

On October 13th, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mosena, participated in the 38th session of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians. The Forum discussed a draft resolution on the impact of artificial intelligence on democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. Additionally, a panel discussion on sustainable peace and providing justice to women and girls was held, during which Hon. Mosena shared Lesotho’s experiences and insights.
