Colloquium Explores Czech-Nigerian Academic Cooperation at University of Ibadan

Abuja, Nigeria – October 2, 2024 – The Czech Embassy in Nigeria hosted a colloquium on September 30, 2024, to explore potential avenues for enhancing Czech-Nigerian relations and cooperation in the academic sphere. The event brought together representatives from the University of Ibadan, one of Nigeria’s oldest universities, and Czech academics.

Professors F.O. Ekbokhare, A.O. Akinpelo, and I.O. Albert from the University of Ibadan participated in the discussion. Representing the Czech side were Professor J. Záhořík of the Centre for African Studies, University of West Bohemia, and M. Čech, a representative of the Czech Embassy in Abuja.

The colloquium served as a platform for discussing potential collaborations between the University of Ibadan and Czech partners. Participants also had the opportunity to examine the stereotypes that often shape perceptions of European countries in Africa and vice versa.
