Pretoria, South Africa – October 2, 2024 – The U.S. Embassy in South Africa hosted a forum on October 30, 2024, where men from across the country shared their personal experiences and challenges related to HIV. The event was led by Dr. John Nkengasong, U.S. Ambassador to South Africa and Global AIDS Coordinator for the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Ambassador Reuben Brigety, and the South African National AIDS Council.
Participants openly discussed the obstacles men face in accessing healthcare services and the importance of creating supportive environments that encourage them to seek treatment. By sharing their stories, these men are challenging societal norms and inspiring others to take action against HIV.
