39 Arrested in Kimberley Immigration Raid

KIMBERLEY – Operation Vala Umgodi resulted in the arrest of 39 individuals for immigration law violations during a targeted operation in Kimberley on September 28, 2024. Kimberley, South Africa – September 29, 2024 – A joint operation by South African police, military, and immigration officials resulted in the arrest of 39 people for violating immigration laws in the Kimberley area on Saturday.

The early morning raid, codenamed Operation Vala Umgodi, targeted known hideouts of undocumented individuals in Galeshewe and the Kimberley central business district. Thirty-one men and eight women, aged between 21 and 49, were apprehended at various locations.

The arrested individuals are expected to appear in court soon.

Operation Vala Umgodi is part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and illegal activities in the Northern Cape province.
