Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister Meets Danish and UAE Officials

New York – Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie, held bilateral meetings with his Danish and Emirati counterparts on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York.

During his meeting with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Ambassador Taye congratulated Denmark on its election to the UN Security Council. He also briefed Rasmussen on the ongoing situation in the Horn of Africa and Ethiopia’s continued efforts to combat terrorism in Somalia.

In his meeting with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, Ambassador Taye discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on peace and security issues in the Horn of Africa.

Regarding Somalia, Ambassador Taye emphasized the importance of preserving the security gains achieved through the sacrifices of regional countries and international investments. He stressed that the decision on the post-ATMIS mission should be made after careful consideration of all relevant factors, including its mandate, size, financing, and coordination.
