Shenzhen, China – South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited Shenzhen, China, a leading technology hub, as part of his state visit to strengthen economic relations and attract investment to South Africa. Shenzhen, known as China’s Silicon Valley, hosted a business roundtable attended by top companies such as BYD, Tencent, Huawei, and Shenzhen Energy Group.

During the roundtable, Ramaphosa emphasized South Africa’s commitment to developing its electric vehicle industry and creating an environment favorable to foreign investment by reviewing existing regulations. He also highlighted 130 private sector energy projects set to produce 22,500 megawatts of electricity, positioning South Africa as a regional hub for manufacturing and development.

The president toured the headquarters of BYD and Huawei, meeting with founders Wang Chuanfu and Ren Zhengfei. His delegation included ministers of trade, industry, energy, and public works, alongside the premier of the Eastern Cape.
Ramaphosa invited Guangdong’s political leaders to visit South Africa and explore further investment opportunities.
