UK Envoy to Botswana Meets SADC Executive Secretary

Gaborone, Botswana – The new British High Commissioner to Botswana, His Excellency Mr. Giles Enticknap, MBE, has met with the SADC Executive Secretary, His Excellency Mr. Elias Magosi, to discuss ways to strengthen the relationship between the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the United Kingdom (UK).

During the meeting, held at the SADC Secretariat on Monday, September 2, 2024, the two leaders identified potential areas for collaboration, including industrial development, infrastructure development, social and human capital development, and cross-cutting issues such as gender, youth, environment, and disaster risk management.

His Excellency Mr. Giles Enticknap expressed his commitment to deepening the relationship between the UK and SADC, focusing on mutual economic growth and addressing the climate change crisis. He emphasized the importance of working together to achieve these goals, drawing on his extensive experience in Africa.

The SADC Executive Secretary, His Excellency Mr. Elias Magosi, welcomed the new High Commissioner and reaffirmed SADC’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the UK. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that collaborations with international partners are mutually beneficial and have a positive impact on the lives of people in the region.
