Tokyo, Japan – Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Kiyoto Tsuji met with Tanzanian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Cosato David Chumi on Thursday, August 23, to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation.

The meeting, held in Tokyo, marked a continuation of the growing partnership between the two nations. State Minister Tsuji recalled his visit to Tanzania in May and expressed his desire to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation in the international arena. Deputy Minister Chumi expressed his deep appreciation for Japan’s assistance in various areas.

Both sides welcomed the increasing economic exchange between Japan and Tanzania and agreed to continue working closely together to further strengthen their economic ties. They also reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing connectivity with Tanzania, which serves as a gateway for landlocked countries in the region.

Looking ahead, the ministers confirmed their intention to further develop Japan-Tanzania bilateral relations in the lead-up to the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in 2025. They also exchanged views on international cooperation.
