Tokyo, Japan – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty paid a courtesy call on Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Thursday, August 23, during his visit to Japan for the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meeting.
Prime Minister Kishida welcomed Minister Abdelatty’s visit and congratulated him on his recent appointment to the Egyptian Cabinet. He emphasized Egypt’s crucial role in maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East and Africa, highlighting the country’s importance as a partner to Japan.
In response, Minister Abdelatty conveyed a letter from Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to Prime Minister Kishida, expressing his desire to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Both leaders agreed to enhance their cooperation not only on a bilateral level but also in coordination with other African nations. They discussed the importance of working together to address the challenges facing the continent.
Prime Minister Kishida expressed Japan’s deep concern about the ongoing situation in the Middle East, particularly the crisis in Gaza. He assured Minister Abdelatty of Japan’s support for Egypt’s efforts to resolve the conflict. The two ministers agreed to maintain close communication on this and other regional issues.
