Japan, Libya Agree to Deepen Cooperation

Tokyo, Japan – Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa met with Libya’s Acting Foreign Minister Eltaher Elbaour on Thursday, August 23, to discuss bilateral relations and international cooperation.

The meeting, held in Tokyo, marked a continuation of the growing ties between the two countries. Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the progress made in their cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening their partnership.

A key focus of the discussion was human resources development. Japan and Libya agreed to deepen their collaboration in this area to enhance the skills and capabilities of Libyan professionals.

Looking ahead, the ministers emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in the lead-up to the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), scheduled for 2025.

In addition to bilateral matters, Japan and Libya exchanged views on various international issues. These included the reform of the United Nations Security Council, the situation in the Middle East, and the ongoing North Korean abduction crisis.
